Flooding Hits 29 Thai Provinces, Nearly 1 Million Households Affected
Severe flooding across 29 Thai provinces has affected nearly 1 million households, with water discharge from the north combining with heavy rainfall to inundate 167 districts nationwide as of late September.
September 29, 2026 – Theeraphot Kutchamat, director-general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, reported that severe and extremely heavy rainfall across multiple areas, combined with water discharge flowing from the northern region into central Thailand's water mass, has created a flooding crisis spanning 29 provinces: Tak, Phisanulok, Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lopburi, Singburi, Chai Nat, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ang Thong, Saraburi, Ayutthaya, Samut Prakan, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Nakhon Nayok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Buriram, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Surin, along with Bangkok across 50 districts (as of 06:00 hrs). The flooding encompasses 167 districts, 890 subdistricts, 5,077 villages, affecting 940,300 households and 2,602,309 people. In the northern region, Tak Province has flooding in five districts affecting 1,162 households with rising water levels. Phisanulok Province has flooding across five districts with 129 affected households and falling water levels. Phetchabun Province shows flooding in six districts affecting 82 households with declining water levels. Nakhon Sawan Province reports the most severe flooding with 11 affected districts and 7,777 households impacted, with water levels rising. In central Thailand, Uthai Thani Province has flooding across eight districts affecting 1,734 households with stabilizing water levels. Lopburi Province has flooding in five districts with 1,657 affected households and stable water levels. Chai Nat Province reports flooding in five districts affecting 596 households with rising water levels. Singburi Province has flooding in three districts with 180 affected households and rising water levels. Suphan Buri Province shows flooding across seven districts with 9,985 affected households and rising water levels. Kanchanaburi Province has minimal flooding in Thrai Yok District affecting 12 households. Ang Thong Province reports flooding in three districts affecting 298 households with stable water levels. Saraburi Province has flooding across eight districts affecting 297 households with one death recorded.
