A food delivery rider in Kamphaeng Phet province was sexually harassed by a customer who offered 600 baht in exchange for explicit acts. After other riders had experienced similar incidents without evidence to prosecute, this rider decided to record the call as proof and file charges.

On July 11, 2026, Prakchit Saitip, founder of the community Facebook page "Kamphaeng Phet Complaints Center," accompanied 24-year-old rider Puay to file a report at Muang Kamphaeng Phet Police Station against the suspect, identified as Chai.

According to Puay's account, after receiving the food order, he made the delivery as requested and left the food at the customer's door as instructed. While heading to his next job, the customer called back with sexually suggestive remarks and inappropriate language, making him feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Puay recorded the conversation and directly asked the caller to state his intentions clearly for evidence purposes. The caller then asked if he would accept special work and offered 600 baht in exchange for explicit acts.

Puay stated he filed the report to demand respect for the food delivery profession and to set a legal precedent, hoping to prevent such harassment from happening to others.

Prakchit noted that multiple riders had previously reported sexual harassment from this person but lacked evidence to prosecute. He praised Puay for having the presence of mind to record the incident for legal action.

Bangkok United, a major Thai League 1 club, has announced the signing of Willian Popp, a Brazilian striker who recently played for Muangthong United last season. The club surprised fans with this major transfer market move for the 2026/27 season by signing 32-year-old Brazilian forward Willian Popp as an official new member. Popp expressed great excitement about the transfer, declaring his readiness to lead the team in pursuit of success across all competitions.

Willian Popp began his professional football career in Brazil with Joinville SC in 2014 before moving to Mogi Mirim on loan. At age 22, he sought new challenges in South Korea with Busan I'Park in the K League 2, where he immediately impressed with 18 goals and was selected for the K League 2 Team of the Season for 2016. Afterwards, Popp moved to play for Avispa Fukuoka in Japan's J League 2 before returning to South Korea to play for Bucheon FC 1995. He then moved back to Brazil's domestic league, playing for Figueirense FC and Ceará SC.

In the 2020-21 season, Willian Popp moved to Thailand for the first time, joining Muangthong United, and immediately became one of the league's key strikers with 12 goals and 2 assists from 21 appearances. In the following season, he played 29 matches, scoring 15 goals with 4 assists before moving back to Brazil briefly to play for Chapecoense in 2022. He returned to join Muangthong United again in 2023.

In 2024, Popp had the opportunity to face new challenges by moving to Shanghai Port from the Chinese Super League on loan before returning to play for Muangthong United again. Throughout his three periods with "Kirins", Popp appeared in a total of 108 matches across all competitions, scoring 63 goals with 18 assists, serving as a crucial attacking player. He consecutively scored over 10 goals across 3 seasons and set a club record as the top scorer for 3 consecutive seasons.

Recently, Popp decided to open a new chapter in his career by joining Bangkok United. He revealed for the first time that he feels very excited about this transfer, as Bangkok is a club with the potential to achieve success due to its clear playing style and abundance of quality players, both Thai and foreign. He is ready to be part of the team's efforts to reach its objectives this season.

Popp's arrival will enhance Bangkok's attacking game with his sharp finishing ability and talent for making a difference in the final third. With a record of 63 goals from 108 matches during his time playing in Thailand, this serves as strong evidence that he will not need time to adapt to this transfer. Popp will certainly be another key asset for Bangkok United's pursuit of success in the new season beginning in September.

A violent windstorm caused a restaurant structure to collapse at 6 p.m. on July 11, 2026, injuring multiple diners in Samut Prakan Province. The open-sided dining pavilion, roughly 6 meters wide and 25 meters long with a palm-frond roof, came down suddenly during the storm. Tables, chairs, and dishes scattered across the floor as approximately 10 customers—including children and elderly patrons—screamed and fled in panic. Some jumped into the nearby fish pond after initial reports of a child drowning, but it was later discovered the child had safely gone to the restroom before the collapse. Emergency responders from Na Klua Subdistrict and the Por Tek Tung Foundation provided first aid to four to five people with minor injuries. Witness Watchai, 48, who was dining with his girlfriend, described hearing a loud cracking sound before the roof came down. His girlfriend was recording video when the collapse occurred. Jayden Adams, a midfielder for South Africa's national football team, has died at just 25 years old, only weeks after playing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Though the official cause has not been released, reports indicate he died in a motor vehicle accident.

Adams appeared in South Africa's first two group matches—a 0-2 loss to Mexico and a 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic—before the team was eliminated after losing 0-1 to Canada on June 29. With 9 caps for the national team, Adams had been actively sharing photos with his girlfriend on social media shortly before his death upon returning home.

The South African Professional Football Association issued a statement expressing deep sorrow: "We are profoundly devastated by the untimely passing of Jayden Adams, midfielder for Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana. Jayden represented South Africa with pride, courage, and excellence at the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup, carrying the hopes of our nation. His loss is immeasurable to his family, teammates, club, football, and the country as a whole. We extend our deepest condolences to the Adams family, Mamelodi Sundowns, Stellenbosch FC, and all whose lives he touched. South African football has lost a talented player, a dedicated servant of the game, and a young man with so much good still to give. May his soul rest in eternal peace."

Democrats Tour Flood Reservoir, Push For Pump Funding

Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva toured a flood-prevention reservoir in Hatyai and urged the government to approve funding for water pumps and infrastructure upgrades to address the province's persistent flooding problems.

Democrats Tour Flood Reservoir, Push For Pump Funding
8h ago Khaosod

Abhisit Vejjajiva, Democrat Party leader and list MP, dismissed claims by fellow MP Paradorn Prissananantakul, cautioning against conflating separate budget matters. He led Democrat lawmakers to inspect the Kaeng-Ling-Klonglian water retention basin—designed to slow runoff from upper areas and prevent rapid flooding of Hatyai's economic zone—at 6 PM on July 11. Khohong Mayor Thevisak Theeratana presented the municipality's concerns and requested assistance, including procurement of ten water pumps.

Abhisit stated that Hatyai's flooding problem has been wrongly portrayed as a political dispute when both parties are simply performing their duties. He noted that initial disaster response focused on economic remedies, but timing remained problematic due to uncertainty about rainfall patterns.

Abhisit highlighted that following the election, both Democrats and opposition raised concerns about the province's preparedness. Parliamentary discussions began in May, with MPs Joury Noomkaew and Saksit Khaothong citing examples like Klong Ror 1. The Prime Minister visited on July 10, and the government had planned a cabinet meeting in early June but cancelled it, citing incomplete project vetting.

As budgetary discussions extended into July, Joury spoke clearly about flood concerns, referencing the budget crisis—particularly debates about candle-lighting expenses—which prompted an emotional government response. This prompted the Prime Minister to visit and approve approximately 400 million baht, pending cabinet confirmation. An emergency fund of 99.5 million baht from private-sector assistance was also approved for urgent priorities.

Abhisit told Pradorn not to conflate separate issues, noting the project is centrally funded but involves distinct components requiring budget approval and upgrades. He emphasized the opposition performed its duty fully and appreciated the government's eventual response to two to three months of advocacy, particularly regarding Klong Ror 1. He urged the government to expedite cabinet approval, as remaining amounts exceed the Prime Minister's sole authority to approve.

Heavy Rain Swamps Hat Yai in Under 20 Minutes

Hat Yai's Khlong Hua intersection flooded in under 20 minutes on July 9 after heavy rain, with residents blaming an electrical pole blocking the drainage canal and an incomplete infrastructure project for the recurring disaster.

Heavy Rain Swamps Hat Yai in Under 20 Minutes, Power Pole Blocks Drainage Canal, Residents Frustrated Over 9,000 Baht Relief. July 11—A Facebook video by user Wit Tong Thai captured sudden flooding at Khlong Hua intersection in Ban Pru municipality, Hat Yai district, Songkhla province, following heavy rain on the afternoon of July 9. Water surged rapidly into homes and shops.

Investigations revealed an incomplete drainage system under construction. The canal along the Asia Route toward Phatthalung was clogged with garbage and water hyacinth. Downstream before the railway overpass, an electrical pole stood directly in the drainage canal, which residents believe is a major obstruction preventing adequate water flow.

Vatcharasit Phinyodthananth, owner of Tong Thai Tour Company, revealed the flooding happened extremely fast. Rain fell for less than 20 minutes before water rushed into homes, leaving no time to save belongings. This recurring problem has plagued residents for nearly 20 years. Heavy rain and lack of canal dredging, combined with grass, branches, and garbage blocking pipe openings, cause the flooding.

When residents called Ban Pru municipality, they were told to manage garbage collection themselves. Despite multiple reports to authorities, nothing changed. Last year saw chest-high flooding. This year, after water damage rotted his home, he recently renovated. Now items he prepared for merit-making at nine temples for 500-600 people on July 19 were damaged by flooding. He questioned whether the 9,000 baht relief compensation justifies repeated damage.

Shop owners in the area unanimously blame the incomplete drainage pipe project for worsening floods. Heavy rain now causes flooding in less than 30 minutes. Before the project, water would recede quickly after rain stopped. Now drainage is much slower, affecting business.
