Former monk Suphat, 37, was fined by police in Lan Sak after a drunken episode where he blasted loud music, shouted threats, and harassed neighbors. He disclosed he had been ordained six times and only began drinking heavily after leaving the monkhood, using his savings. His mother guaranteed his future conduct, and police issued a warning for him to adjust his behavior and keep noise levels down.
A former monk caused trouble again. Suphat, 37, got drunk, blasted loud music, and harassed neighbors, prompting a police fine. He revealed he has been ordained six times. On October 22, a 64-year-old neighbor brought evidence to Lan Sak municipal officers seeking help with safety concerns after Suphat, recently returned home, played deafening music, shouted insults, and made threats. Municipal officers summoned Suphat and imposed a fine. Police gave a verbal warning and counseling to help him adapt to community life. His mother pledged to supervise his behavior, ensure he keeps music volume down, and prevents further disturbances.
Under questioning, Suphat said he previously lost his job, leading to repeated ordinations and disrobing. He never drank while a monk but started drinking heavily after each disrobing because he had saved money. Recently, after returning home, he admitted playing loud music due to frustration that the neighbor across the street reported him to police. He accepted responsibility and vowed to find work and become a better person.
Suphat's mother said they live together with his twin brother. She acknowledged her son previously assaulted her while drunk, throwing a rice plate that split her head open, resulting in his imprisonment once. She believes his latest outburst stemmed from excessive drinking and his love for loud music and dancing. She has warned him and hopes he reforms; if not, she accepts his fate as he is now an adult.
