Gulf Starts Chiang Mai Waste-to-Energy Plant, Supplies 8 MW
Gulf's subsidiary Chiang Mai West to Energy has launched an 8‑megawatt waste‑to‑energy plant in Doi Saket, Chiang Mai, supplying power to the Provincial Electricity Authority. The project, 99.23% indirectly owned by Gulf Development PCL, will cut landfill waste and support Thailand’s circular economy and low‑carbon society goals. It operates under a 20‑year power purchase agreement with the PEA.
Gulf’s Chiang Mai West to Energy project, a very small power producer (VSPP) with a contracted capacity of 8 MW and installed capacity of 9.5 MW, located in Doi Saket district, Chiang Mai, started commercial operation on October 1, 2025, supplying electricity to the Provincial Electricity Authority under a 20-year power purchase agreement. The initiative will reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills, lessen the need for new landfill sites in Chiang Mai, and align with national clean energy and waste management policies, promoting a circular economy and low-carbon society.
