GULF Installs Solar Power in Uthai Thani Community
GULF installed solar power with battery storage at a school in Ban Huay Ta village, Uttaradit Province, to provide electricity and clean water to 300 residents on an island above Sirikit Dam who previously lacked reliable power access.
Gulf Development Public Company Limited has announced the selection of Ban Huay Ta village in Nang Phaya Subdistrict, Ta Pla District, Uttaradit Province, as part of its "GULF Sparks, Life Starts" initiative to bring power to underserved communities. The selection was made after assessing infrastructure needs, electricity access, and development potential. The village, home to approximately 300 residents in 150 households, sits on an island above the Sirikit Dam and lacks reliable electricity. Most residents work in agriculture and freshwater fishing. GULF will install a solar power generation system with battery storage at Ban Huay Ta Wittaya School, improving educational opportunities for children and youth through modern learning materials and computer connectivity to the outside world. The installation will also provide residents with access to clean and safe water, strengthening public health and sustainable quality of life. The "GULF Sparks, Life Starts" program leverages GULF's renewable energy expertise to create shared value for society by supporting remote communities and areas without grid electricity. To date, GULF has installed solar systems in over 20 remote communities across highland areas, islands, and border regions throughout Thailand, generating more than 100 kilowatts and benefiting over 10,000 people. The installations have reduced inequality, created educational and healthcare opportunities, and enabled career development, job creation, and income generation for sustainable community improvement.
