Hudson Says Thai Squad Short on Rest Before Philippines Win
Thailand defeated the Philippines 1-0 in AFF Cup Group B play, but coach Anthony Hudson warned the squad needs rest after arriving at their hotel just before dawn with minimal preparation time.
Thailand national football team coach Anthony Hudson said after the AFF Cup Group B third match that Thailand edged the Philippines 1-0 with a goal from Waris Suthong, giving the team a perfect 9 points. "We arrived at the hotel almost at 3-4 a.m., and we only had one training session before this match," Hudson explained. "Obviously, we need to focus on fully recovering the players' bodies. We'll get more training in on Thursday when we return to Thailand." He added that the team's next goal is to beat Myanmar, and that rotating players in recent games has worked well, with substitutes performing effectively. Player of the match Waris Suthong commented that the coach emphasized team play and coordination, and despite the rotation, the team managed to secure the result and will continue improving. Thailand's next AFF Cup 2026 Group B match against Myanmar (world ranking 158) will be held at Rajamangala Stadium on August 8, 2025, at 20:00 Thai time, broadcast live on TrueVisions Now.
