Thailand Ready for IMF-World Bank Summit, No Threat Detected

Speaking after the cabinet meeting on October 6, 2026, Secretary-General General Chaiyaruek Duangphaphan said the Royal Thai Police are taking the lead and have contingency and security plans in place. He added that there is no indication of any worrying developments, noting that the summit will attract leaders and officials from many countries, so comprehensive security preparations are underway. Regarding protesters, he said demonstrations are normal and reflect differing opinions that can occur. He also noted that the Prime Minister has urged greater intelligence accuracy, and the council has discussed intelligence operations, agreeing to share updates and key information weekly to improve situational assessment.
