Justice Minister Defends Gambling Probe Speed Amid Criticism
Justice Minister Ruttaphol defends slower gambling probes, citing complex money trails, as DSI investigates an MP's husband's shuffle.com links; an opposition MP will submit evidence tomorrow.
Justice Minister Pol.Lt.Col. Ruttaphol Naowarat pushed back against former MP Sirichok Sopha's criticism that authorities arrested a famous page owner faster than they acted on online gambling sites. Ruttaphol said the cases are fundamentally different because gambling investigations require thorough money-trail tracing. He also updated that the DSI probe into the husband of Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Sang, who holds shares in shuffle.com — a site alleged to be linked to online gambling and scam networks — is making reasonable progress, with investigators meeting weekly. People's Party MP Rangsiman Rome is scheduled to provide additional information to the DSI tomorrow (Oct 27). Ruttaphol said he does not yet know the details of Rangsiman's submission but stressed that all information must enter the process to ensure fairness for both sides. When asked about Sirichok's Facebook post comparing the swift arrest in the 'Godd Dam' page case — which involved alleged money transfers linked to Anutin Charnvirakul — to the slower gambling site crackdown, Ruttaphol reiterated that page investigations are relatively straightforward, whereas gambling cases involve complex financial trails that must be verified.
