At the 2026 World Badminton Championships in New Delhi, India on August 18, Thailand's Kulvutti Viwitshanto, ranked second in the world, displayed superior form in his men's singles first-round match against Sri Lanka's Viren Nettasinghe, winning decisively 2-0 with games of 21-11 and 21-6 to advance to the second round where he will face Israel's Daniel Dubovenko.
Thailand's Panitchpol Theeratansakul defeated Finland's Kalle Kolyonen 2-0 with scores of 21-18 and 21-9 to progress to the next round against France's Alex Lanier. In the women's singles first round, Thailand's Rachanok Intanon, ranked seventh globally, defeated Turkey's Neslihan Arin 2-0 with 21-14 and 21-10, while compatriot Pornpawee Chochuwong also advanced with a 2-0 victory over Sri Lanka's Ranitamala Liyanagae with scores of 21-12 and 21-16.
In men's doubles second round, Thailand's Peerachai Sukphanthong and Parkpol Theeratansakul lost to Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik 1-2 with games of 21-15, 11-21, and 18-21.
