Thailand's Kulwutti Vititsarn, the world's third-ranked men's singles badminton player, fell short in the semifinals of the 2026 China Masters at Shenzhen on September 4. The World Tour Super 750 event offers a combined prize pool of approximately 41.875 million baht. Vititsarn started strong, winning the first game 21-18, but Denmark's Anders Antonsen, ranked fifth globally, recovered to dominate the remaining matches, winning 21-17 and 21-18 to advance to the final. In women's singles, Supanida Katethong could not withstand the strength of Japan's Akane Yamaguchi, the world number three, losing both games 18-21 and 16-21. In women's doubles, Benyapa Aimsoad and her twin sister Nantakarn Aimsoad lost their semifinal match to Japan's Sayaka Hirota and Ayako Sakuramoto 21-19, 13-21, 18-21.
