Durian Farm Owner Arrested for Sexual Abuse of 20 Workers
A durian farm owner in Chanthaburi was arrested September 4 after complaints from approximately 20 workers, mostly minors, alleging sexual abuse and harassment.
On September 4, 2025, Chanthaburi Provincial Police Command, led by Deputy Commander Arthorn Suntrawibat and Muang Chanthaburi Police Station Commander Seksorn Sripherit, ordered a special operations unit to apprehend the owner of a prominent durian farm in the area following an arrest warrant for serious offences.
The case originated from complaints by victims regarding sexual harassment by the farm owner. Approximately 20 victims were identified. On August 28, 2025, one victim filed a formal complaint with Muang Chanthaburi Police Station, prompting investigators to gather evidence and petition the Chanthaburi Provincial Court. The court approved arrest warrant number 170/2569 on September 4, 2025, against Phirot, known as Man, on charges of abducting minors aged 15 to 18 and indecent conduct without consent.
After the warrant was issued, Phirot attempted to flee the area. At approximately 11:00 a.m. on September 4, officers received an informant tip that the suspect was hiding in a village in Koh Khuang Subdistrict, Muang Chanthaburi District. Upon locating Phirot walking near the village entrance, police presented the warrant. Phirot acknowledged being the person named in the warrant and had not previously been arrested in this case. He was taken into custody and handed over to investigators for legal proceedings.
