Man Arrested After Attempted Assault on 67-Year-Old Woman
A 45-year-old man was arrested in Buriram province after allegedly attempting to sexually assault a 67-year-old woman who fought back and escaped. He was found hiding in a grass field near the village and denies the charges.
Police and residents launched a manhunt for a 45-year-old man who allegedly attempted to sexually assault a 67-year-old woman in her kitchen, but the victim fought back and escaped. She reported the incident to village officials and police. The incident occurred in Nak Khaet subdistrict, Muang district, Buriram province on 16 September. The suspect was believed to have fled to nearby shelters or community forests, leaving villagers fearful and locking their doors for safety. Officers from Muang Buriram Police Station and residents eventually found the suspect hiding in a grass field approximately 1 kilometre from the village. He was taken for questioning at a police station. During interrogation, he denied attempting to assault the elderly woman, claiming he was being framed and said he would contest the case in court. Police are continuing their detailed investigation and preparing to file formal charges.
