Woman Arrested After Attacking Elderly Grandmother and Mother
A 45-year-old woman with a history of drug addiction was arrested in Chaiyaphum province after attacking her elderly grandmother and mother, prompting police to respond to an emergency call and charge her with assault, drug use, and trespas
On September 12, Paveena Hongsukul, chairwoman of the Paveena Hongsukul Foundation for Children and Women, disclosed that on September 11, a man called the foundation's emergency hotline for help regarding his 97-year-old grandmother and 65-year-old mother, who were being attacked by his 45-year-old niece.
The caller explained that his niece had a long history of drug addiction and multiple jail sentences. She lived in the same house as the grandmother and mother, frequently became violent, quarreled with them, and assaulted them repeatedly, forcing them to flee and seek shelter with relatives out of fear for their safety.
On the morning of September 11, the niece punched the grandmother in the back and then picked up a wooden stick to strike her again, creating extreme fear and concern for the family. Given the grandmother's advanced age, there was serious worry that a life-threatening incident could occur. The foundation was called for assistance.
After receiving the report, the foundation contacted Ban Thaen Police Station in Chaiyaphum province, which responded immediately and accompanied the caller to file a report. By 3:40 p.m., police had arrested the niece and taken her to Ban Thaen Police Station, where she was charged with three offences: trespassing, drug use, and assault. She was then taken to a hospital for medical evaluation before further legal proceedings.
Hongsukul thanked Deputy Police Colonel Witthawas Saengswang, superintendent of Ban Thaen Police Station, and the station's officers for their swift response. The foundation said it would continue to closely monitor and assist the family.
