Badminton competition at the 20th Asian Games was held on September 22 at Ichihomiya City Municipal Gymnasium in the team event. The Thai women's badminton team competed in the quarterfinals against China.
In the opening singles match, Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon, world number 5, faced Wang Zhouxia, world number 2. Intanon fought hard and won the first game, but China's player won the next two games. Intanok lost 1-2 with scores of 21-17, 18-21, and 12-21, putting Thailand down 0-1.
In the second doubles match, Thailand fielded Pattharaporn Michad and Nathapon Tongkasat, world number 36, against Tan Ning and Liu Sixin, the world number 1 pair. The Thai pair fought hard but could not overcome the world's top-ranked pair, losing both games 9-21 and 10-21. Thailand fell behind 0-2.
In the third singles match, Pornpawee Chochuwong, world number 8, faced Chen Yifei, world number 4. Chochuwong pushed hard and extended the match to three games but ultimately lost 1-2 with scores of 9-21, 21-19, and 13-21. The Thai women's badminton team was defeated 0-3 by China.
