On October 3, 2026, reporters said a 34-year-old man identified only as Piyaw (surname withheld) from Lamphun province experienced severe agitation and delusions, claiming he had magical powers to "bless amulets." He demanded the telephone number of the provincial police chief, refused to cooperate, and when officers approached he became combative, attempted to flee, and tried to attack them. To ensure safety, officers from Mueang Ji Police Station, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Bovornkiat Trairuchiranan and supported by platoons 20 and 201, the Doi Ti traffic police, and the Lamphun-Lampang Highway Rescue Association, decided to use an electric stun gun (taser). After the taser deployment, they were able to handcuff him behind his back and place him in a rescue van for transport to Lamphun Hospital. Pol. Col. Thitiphol Arunsakul, station commander, Pol. Lt. Col. Sakchai Sitichomphu, and Pol. Lt. Col. Jakrin Singhai oversaw the operation. The man was taken to the hospital for medical assessment and further psychiatric treatment.
