Land Transport Reduces Fares: Shared Buses and BMTA Cut 3 Satang Per Kilometer
Shared buses and BMTA services cut fares by 3 satang per kilometer effective immediately following a drop in diesel prices to 40.20 baht per liter.
Land Transport reduces fares for shared buses and BMTA by 3 satang per kilometer following a recent decline in diesel prices to 40.20 baht per liter. April 29 — Saraphong Paithooryapong, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport, announced that the Ministry of Transport has been monitoring diesel prices amid Middle East regional tensions, which have impacted bus operators' cost structures and cash flow. However, diesel prices have recently declined and currently stand at 40.20 baht per liter. A Transport Fare Subcommittee has approved fare reductions for Category 2 intercity buses (Bangkok to provinces) and Category 3 buses (between provinces) by 3 satang per kilometer per seat. For example, a 100-kilometer journey would see a 3-baht reduction per seat, effective immediately. Other fare exemptions or reductions will follow previously approved guidelines.
