A 29-year-old Laotian man died overnight in a rental room after sleeping on a phone charging cable, with authorities suspecting electrical shock from a faulty wire. At 11:00 a.m. on July 2, 2569, Deputy Sub-District Administrator Nattaphat Perngcheab of Non Sung received notification of a deceased foreign national in a rental room in Non Sung District, Mueang Sub-District, Udon Thani Province. He coordinated with an on-duty doctor from Udon Thani Hospital and a relief foundation to investigate the scene.
Authorities discovered the body of Mr. Kheuang, a 29-year-old Laotian, lying deceased inside a mosquito net wearing only short pants with no shirt. A mobile phone and charging cable were found beneath his body. Preliminary investigation revealed no signs of struggle, forced entry, or injuries from any third party.
Coworkers revealed that the deceased had worked in the area for approximately two years, with regular health checks arranged by his employer showing no serious illnesses. Police investigation at the scene suggests he may have slept on the charging cable while it was plugged in. The cable may have been faulty and caused electrical shock, though authorities will continue investigating the true cause.
The exact cause of death could not be confirmed initially. The body was sent to Udon Thani Hospital for autopsy to determine the true cause according to legal procedures. Authorities warn the public not to charge phones while sleeping and to regularly inspect power plugs for leaks or damaged wires, replacing them immediately to prevent similar incidents.
