A 15-year-old golfer died after a lightning strike during a youth tournament in Chachoengsao; her caddie was also seriously injured.
A lightning strike at a golf course in Don Ko Ka subdistrict, Bang Nam Priao district, Chachoengsao province during a youth golf tournament today left two people seriously injured: a 15-year-old female golfer and her 31-year-old caddie. After the incident, course officials and rescue teams immediately responded, finding the young golfer unconscious with no signs of life. Officials administered first aid and performed CPR at the scene until her heart began beating again, then urgently transported both victims to Bang Nam Priao Hospital. The Facebook page "Icey Eya Ivy Pradab-yat," belonging to the mother of the 15-year-old golfer "Nong Eya" Eyawarin Pradab-yat, later posted a devastating message about their loss. The post read: "No parent wants to let their child go easily, but if it causes pain to our beloved child, we agree to let go so she can rest peacefully. You were the strongest, my dear Eya. Your heart stopped beating from the lightning strike for nearly an hour. You fought back through 10 rounds, endured through the night waiting for Dad to fly back for a final goodbye. Sleep peacefully, my love. Shattered, broken, no piece left whole... Sorry I can't answer calls or reply to anyone, not ready for anything yet. Bringing Eya home today."
