On July 4, 2025, suppression unit officers arrested 65-year-old Saiw (surname withheld) along Srisuthat Road in Muang District, Phuket. He was wanted under warrant No. Sor.517/2549, issued September 17, 2006, by Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Court on charges of murder, illegal firearms possession and ammunition, and unlawful carrying of weapons in public areas.
The case dates back to 2006 when the suspect used a .22 caliber gun to shoot his wife fatally over jealousy and suspicion. He fled and evaded authorities for nearly 20 years by changing his name, moving between provinces including Chiang Mai, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Phuket, and cutting off all contact with relatives. The statute of limitations was set to expire in September 2025.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed that a heated argument with his wife over her suspected involvement with another man led him to shoot her twice. He then boarded a bus to Bangkok to hide with his sister, and sold the murder weapon to a motorcycle taxi driver for 4,000 baht to fund his escape. He subsequently changed his name and moved between provinces, working as a welder while maintaining no family contact. Police finally tracked him down through behavioral surveillance in Phuket and arrested him before the case expired. He was transferred to Muang Nakhon Ratchasima police station for further legal proceedings.
