Thailand Science Park Launches New Startup Support Program
10h ago Khaosod

On July 13, 2025, Thailand Science Park (TSP) announced the launch of the TSP Scale X Landing Program under the concept "Two Journeys. One Ecosystem." The program creates new support mechanisms that provide startups not only with funding access but also connect entrepreneurs with markets, industry sectors, research, and essential partner networks for growth.

The program supports both foreign startups entering Thai and ASEAN markets and Thai startups expanding globally, bringing together government agencies, industry, education, investors, and international partners on a unified platform.

Dr. Chularat Tanprasert, TSP director, stated that innovation no longer results from a single organization working in isolation but from collaboration between research, industry, investment, and entrepreneurs. He noted that the main challenge for startups is not technology development alone but accessing markets, customers, industry sectors, talent, and appropriate capital sources. While startups need funding, they equally need access to business networks, infrastructure, and partners that reduce growth time and risk.

Under this program, TSP functions as an Ecosystem Orchestrator, connecting all sectors' capabilities to work efficiently together and help startups grow faster while reducing costs and business expansion risks.

"Amid intense regional innovation competition, TSP believes the ability to connect people, technology, capital, and markets is crucial to determining Thailand's role as a destination for ASEAN's future technology companies and startups," Dr. Chularat said.

For foreign startups, the program uses a Land • Localise • Commercialise approach to reduce market entry costs and risks, from company establishment to government and industry connections, product adaptation, pilot projects, and commercial expansion. Thailand becomes the starting point for expanding into ASEAN markets for technology companies and startups worldwide.

Thai startups receive support connecting with customers, industry sectors, investors, laboratories, and international partner networks to address growth challenges such as customer shortages, lack of testing facilities, or limited foreign market expansion opportunities.

The program's strength lies in providing startups single-point access to Thailand's science, research, and innovation resources: researchers from five national research centers, laboratories, research equipment, prototype factories, testing and analytical services, and a network of over 120 technology companies within TSP. Additional support comes from domestic and international partners.

Man Arrested Over False Claims at Bangkok Fire Scene
10h ago Khaosod

Police at Phahonyothin Station are preparing to file four charges against Nitpong Kattapong, known as Sergeant Natt, after he turned himself in to investigators. The charges stem from his unauthorized presence at the Ladprao beer bar fire scene that killed 32 people and injured many others. Natt, dressed in military uniform, provided information to reporters and Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul despite having no connection to the incident.

On July 15, Police Major Sarawut Butrdee, deputy inspector of Phahonyothin Station, revealed that Natt came to meet with investigators himself, likely aware of news reports about his involvement. He coordinated with station investigators to turn himself in.

Initial investigation findings indicate charges related to unauthorized radio communication use, impersonation of an official, and acting as an official without authorization. Police are also examining whether the body armor he wore at the scene was genuine. If confirmed as authentic, additional charges will be filed. Furthermore, Natt made statements about the case that did not match facts, leading to charges of spreading rumors and false information that caused public panic.

Natt reportedly knew he would face these four charges, which prompted his decision to meet with investigators. He has not yet given a full statement and requested additional time for detailed questioning. The case allows for bail application. Since Natt voluntarily appeared before investigators, he will be charged and released without requiring bail.

Police in Nakhon Phanom Province responded on July 15 to a fatal traffic accident on Baan Nadone Road in Kham Tao subdistrict, where a white Isuzu pickup truck with a reinforced cargo bed flipped on its side after striking a central streetlight. The truck driver, a delivery employee, sustained minor injuries and was able to crawl out and provide a statement. At the scene, investigators found the overturned truck lying on top of a green Honda Dream motorcycle that was crushed beneath it. The motorcycle rider, identified as Mr. Naa, 56, was found pinned under the truck. Rescue workers took more than 30 minutes with a crane to lift the vehicle and extract his body.

Initial investigation revealed that the pickup truck was traveling from Ard Samara subdistrict to deliver alcohol beverages to shops in a local village. At the accident point, the truck lost control on the central median, causing the driver to swerve and clip the streetlight pole before turning back into the lane. At that exact moment, the motorcycle was passing, and the truck's rear swept the rider down, trapping his body underneath. He died at the scene.

Shortly after, the victim's 33-year-old son and relatives arrived to witness the body recovery. When the son saw his father's vehicle, he collapsed to his knees in tears. Relatives were so traumatized by the sight that they have not yet told the victim's wife, fearing the shock would be too much for her to bear.

Deputy Transport Minister Sarupetch Bunnyanaphani ordered the Phuket Regional Harbor Office to intensify enforcement against jet ski operators following complaints about service standards and lax law enforcement in tourism areas. On July 15, harbor officials led by Adul Raluk Mool, working with marine police, conducted inspections on land and water to prosecute violations under Thailand's Navigation in Thai Waters Act.

The initial sweep resulted in 23 charges against operators for using vessels before obtaining proper licenses, a violation of Section 9 of the Navigation Act. All 23 violators were settled through maximum fines of 10,000 baht each. Sarupetch confirmed this is the beginning of a sustained regulatory campaign to upgrade service standards while strictly enforcing the law. Additional crackdowns will be expanded to other major tourism areas to improve safety, prevent tourist exploitation, and enhance Thailand's international reputation for water tourism.

Beer Bar Cashier Denies Locking Doors During Fire

A beer bar cashier in Ladprao denied locking doors during a July 15 fire, saying flames erupted from the ceiling within seconds and customers fled immediately without obstruction.

Beer Bar Cashier Denies Locking Doors During Fire
11h ago Khaosod

A cashier at a beer bar in Ladprao has given his account of the night of the fire, stating he heard someone shout about the blaze and saw flames erupt from the ceiling within less than 20 seconds. He denies allegations that the establishment locked doors to prevent customers from leaving without paying their bills.

On July 15, Nontom Thanomwong, who had worked at the Ladprao beer bar for approximately one year, met with investigators from Phahon Yothin Police Station to provide his statement and retrieve his personal belongings left inside the establishment.

Nontom revealed that on the night of the incident, while he was working inside the bar, he heard a younger colleague shout "Fire!" Startled, he looked toward the ceiling of the central stage area and saw smoke beginning to form. He immediately ran toward the kitchen exit, and within less than 20 seconds, flames burst out from the ceiling area rapidly. It is believed that at the time of the fire, the bar owner was in the central area of the establishment and was sitting drinking.

Regarding the issue of collecting payment from customers, which drew attention after the incident, Nontom clarified that the bar's system collects payment from customers only once. Bills are gradually cleared starting around midnight as part of the establishment's normal procedure before closing at approximately 2:00 a.m. The fire occurred during the time when staff were clearing bills as usual around that time.

Concerning allegations that the bar locked doors to prevent customers from escaping without paying for food and drinks, Nontom stated that he does not know where such reports came from. From his perspective working there, it does not seem to be true, as everyone was fleeing during that period.

As for the bathroom exit door with a fire escape, Nontom explained that it is opened only when staff enter and exit before work begins. Once the bar opens to customers, it is closed because it is not the main entrance. He suggested that details about this may need to be clarified with the cleaning staff or those directly responsible.

Regarding the sprinkler system, Nontom admitted that he has no knowledge of it as he is only a cashier. During his one year of employment, he was never aware of any electrical system problems in the bar. Fire extinguishers are installed at various points throughout the establishment as normal procedure.

On July 15, 2026, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen presided over the 52nd Red Cross Concert "Still On My Mind: Eternal in the Heart" at the Thailand Cultural Center's Grand Hall in Bangkok. The concert was organized to develop Thai classical music to international standards and to raise funds for the Thai Red Cross Society, with Culture Minister Sabida Taiserit and Royal Thai Navy Commander Pairojn Feuangjun chairing the organizing committee.

Upon entering the hall, the royal couple viewed a commemorative exhibition honoring the late Queen Sirikit, the King's mother and founder of the Thai Red Cross, presented through light, color, and piano performances that conveyed her compassion and legacy of giving through music. The evening featured two programs: the first part showcased classical pieces performed by the Royal Thai Navy Band, including highlights such as Ruslan and Ludmila Overture, The Firebird Suite, and Symphony No. 40 in G Minor—originally played at the first Red Cross Concert in 1961—alongside royal compositions and a newly commissioned piece titled "Eternal Light of Grace," dedicated to Queen Sirikit's musical legacy.

The second program presented a traditional masked dance performance of the Ramakien depicting Prince Rama crossing the ocean, showcasing the valor and loyalty of the monkey army. The King and Queen presented ceremonial donations to the Thai Red Cross and acknowledged the contributions of organizers and donors before departing.
