Police responded at 4:30 a.m. on August 3, 2025, to a report of a pickup truck collision near Soi 13, Ban Kao Road in Panthong District, Chachoengsao Province. Officers found an Isuzu D-Max covered truck with severe front-end damage and an open driver's side door, along with a heavily damaged Toyota Vigo whose rear end had struck a power pole.
The driver of the Vigo, 26-year-old Thangsachai (surname withheld), suffered knee injuries and was treated and transported to hospital. He stated that while driving from Hang Lei Market at speed, an Isuzu covered truck suddenly pulled out from a side soi, giving him no time to brake before the collision occurred.
Officers discovered the body of Nathapol (surname withheld), 43, the Isuzu driver, lying beneath the Vigo approximately 15 meters from his vehicle, ejected during impact. He had injuries to his face and chest. Medical staff from Panthong Hospital confirmed death at the scene, with a fractured vertebra as the immediate cause.
During investigation of the Isuzu, police found drug paraphernalia for methamphetamine use on the driver's seat, which was seized as evidence. However, police stated they cannot yet confirm whether drugs were actually used and await further forensic analysis.
A 23-year-old motorcyclist who witnessed the incident reported that the Vigo was traveling at high speed before the Isuzu suddenly emerged from the soi, causing the violent collision. Panthong police have documented the scene, collected evidence, and plan to review nearby CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the accident and pursue legal action.
