The Thai Meteorological Department issued a weather alert on August 3, 2025, forecasting continued heavy rain across northern Thailand over the next 24 hours due to monsoon troughs passing over the northern region and northern Laos, combined with a low-pressure system near the Vietnamese coast and moderate southwest monsoon winds affecting the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The department warned the public to be cautious of heavy rainfall and accumulated water that may cause flash floods and flash floods, particularly in sloped areas near waterways and low-lying areas. The Andaman Sea's northern region is expected to see waves 1–2 meters high, while the southern Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will experience approximately 1-meter waves, with thunderstorm areas seeing waves exceeding 2 meters. Regional forecasts from 6 a.m. today to 6 a.m. tomorrow show: Northern Region—60% thunderstorms with heavy rain in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Tak, and Uttaradit provinces, with lows of 23–26°C and highs of 30–36°C; Northeast Region—60% thunderstorms with heavy rain in Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, and Mukdahan, lows 23–26°C and highs 30–35°C; Central Region—40% thunderstorms with isolated heavy rain in Nakhon Sawan, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi, lows 24–26°C and highs 34–35°C; Eastern Region—60% thunderstorms with heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chanthaburi, and Trat, lows 24–27°C and highs 32–34°C, with 1-meter sea waves; Southern East Coast—30% thunderstorms mainly in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Yala, and Narathiwat, lows 23–26°C and highs 34–36°C; Southern West Coast—40% thunderstorms mainly in Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket, lows 23–26°C and highs 33–35°C, with 1–2 meter waves near Phang Nga and approximately 1-meter waves south of Phuket; Bangkok and vicinity—60% thunderstorms, lows 26–27°C and highs 33–35°C.
