Upon arriving at the scene on a dirt road near Kok Ma village in Buriram's Prakon Chai district, they found a 40-year-old man named Atit (nicknamed Tum) lying face-down with a stab wound to his chest, abrasions on his face and body. Rescue workers attempted CPR, but his pulse was extremely weak. He was rushed to Prakon Chai Hospital but died from his injuries.

The victim's relative, 39, revealed that Atit had been living in Kok Ma subdistrict for over 10 years and previously worked as a road surveyor. A month before his death, Atit visited asking for help resolving a conflict with teenagers from nearby Moo 8 over a romantic dispute, but his relative declined to intervene. On July 12, 2569 (2026), Udomsuk Police Station received a report of a fatal shooting on Soi Chelemphrachatirat Rama IX 30, Lane 28, Dokmai Subdistrict, Prawet District, Bangkok, in the evening. Officers led by Pol. Col. Chisanuphong Suriyananth, the station commander, arrived to investigate and found the body of Rathaphoomi (known as Feem), a 19-year-old, shot multiple times in the head, neck, and chest. A 36-year-old woman named Ms. Taan, the victim's girlfriend, was also shot in the chest, shoulder, and abdomen and was severely injured before being transported to the hospital.

According to the victim's 42-year-old mother, Waraporn, around 6 p.m. she was bathing a dog inside the house when her son went to pick up his girlfriend from work at a nearby factory. He parked the car beside the house with his girlfriend inside when a man named Golf, the ex-husband of Ms. Taan who was a soldier stationed in Ratchaburi Province, drove up in a black Mazda and parked in front. Without speaking, Golf drove away, but the son called his mother for advice. She told him to stay in the car for safety. Minutes later, she heard approximately 10 gunshots. When she went outside, she found her son dead in the vehicle and Ms. Taan critically wounded.

The shooter, Golf, is the ex-husband of Ms. Taan. The family believes he had harbored resentment since the woman began dating the victim. The mother expressed anguish that her 19-year-old son had barely begun his life and appealed to police to arrest and prosecute the perpetrator as quickly as possible.

On July 12, 2569, Nathnanon Suwanna, the Nong Kliang District Officer and director of the district drug prevention center, announced results from "Operation 90 Days" after receiving an anonymous SMS tip about illegal drug activity in Ban Tong Pib, Moo 1, Tong Pib Subdistrict. Officers led by Deputy District Officer Sompoang Phongwan and Sanongchai Chotirattana conducted an immediate search with local officials and volunteers.

When officers arrived, they identified a 38-year-old man matching the description who appeared anxious and attempted to flee, claiming he needed to use the bathroom. Officers noticed a crumpled cigarette pack in his hand and upon inspection found 43 methamphetamine tablets concealed inside. A preliminary urine test confirmed drug use in his system. He was taken into custody on charges of possessing and using Category 1 narcotics without permission.

During the search, officers discovered the suspect's 27-year-old girlfriend, who also tested positive for drug use. Officers learned she was approximately five months pregnant, prompting immediate concern about serious health risks to both mother and unborn child, including premature delivery, low birth weight, and developmental complications. Rather than treating her solely as an offender, authorities prioritized maternal and fetal safety by immediately transferring her to Nong Kliang Hospital for medical treatment and rehabilitation.

District Officer Nathnanon Suwanna emphasized the importance of public cooperation in reporting drug-related tips. He noted that a single citizen report led to the arrest of a drug dealer and the identification of a vulnerable user—a pregnant woman—who could now receive urgent care. He appealed to residents to report suspected drug trafficking or drug-related behavior to local authorities at any time, assuring confidentiality, to prevent the spread of narcotics in the community.

U.S. Strikes Iran After Attack on Cyprus-Flagged Cargo Ship

U.S. Strikes Iran After Attack on Cyprus-Flagged Cargo Ship

The United States launched airstrikes against Iran early on July 12 in retaliation after Iran attacked a Cyprus-flagged cargo vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, causing severe engine damage and at least one crew member missing. The UK Maritime Trade Operations center noted the ship was traveling along the Oman coast route to avoid Iranian territorial waters, and the crew was forced to abandon the burning vessel.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed multiple ships ignored warnings to correct their course and use approved shipping lanes, with one vessel receiving warning fire and halting operations. Iran stated the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed pending further announcements and threatened to consider additional strikes on enemy bases in the Middle East if faced with new attacks.

U.S. Central Command reported American forces struck approximately 140 targets, significantly more than in the previous two operations, focusing on missile and drone launch sites, ammunition depots, communications equipment, and other Iranian military facilities. The U.S. military said its operations degraded Iran's ability to attack civilians and commercial vessels transiting the strait freely.

This latest clash in the Persian Gulf occurred days after President Donald Trump suggested a temporary ceasefire agreement in the Iran conflict had ended. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posted on social media that "Iran made the wrong choice and now they will pay the price."

Iran's parliament speaker and peace negotiation leader Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf countered: "The era of one-sided agreements has ended. We told you to keep your promises or pay a heavy price for the lesson."

Father Arrested for Sexual Assault of 12-Year-Old Daughter

Police in Bang Pakong District, Chachoengsao Province, have arrested 40-year-old Bunyiem on charges of sexually assaulting his biological 12-year-old daughter. The arrest was made at a rented room in the Bang Wua Subdistrict area following a warrant issued after initial questioning. Paveena Hongskul, head of the Paveena Hongskul Foundation for Children and Women, worked with local representatives and police to pursue the case after being contacted by district officials.

The victim's grandmother, 50, disclosed that she first discovered the abuse on August 22 when she found the father in bed with his daughter, his hand under her blanket touching her genitals. When questioned, the girl tearfully recounted being touched and threatened not to tell her mother. On August 31, the father attempted to enter the grandmother's room and pull down the child's blanket, but the girl resisted and screamed for help, causing him to flee. The grandmother then brought the child to her workplace and subsequently arranged for her protection at a children's shelter in Chachoengsao.

The suspect initially gave partial admissions and denials, but police say their case is solid based on interviews with the child conducted by multidisciplinary teams and hospital medical findings. Investigators gathered additional evidence during questioning yesterday and filed charges of indecent assault on a child under 15 years old. The suspect will be brought before Chachoengsao Provincial Court for a detention hearing, and prosecutors plan to oppose bail.

Authorities have coordinated with the Justice Ministry's Financial Assistance Office for Victims and Defendants in Criminal Cases to issue documents enabling the victim to receive 50,000 baht in compensation. The Chachoengsao Provincial Welfare Office and the Children's Shelter director will provide psychological rehabilitation for both mother and child, along with additional welfare assistance and support through the Child Protection Fund.

Residents of Khloe Selo in Subdistrict Mae Sam Laep, Mae Hong Son Province, have united to excavate a temporary road on the Kom Muedo–Khloe Selo–Two-Sheet Sea of Mist route after being excluded from government loan programs. On July 12, Subdistrict Administrator Phong Phipatthana Mee Benjammasth praised the community's self-help efforts, noting that continuous rainfall prevented machinery deployment and made manual labor necessary. Without swift action, residents would be cut off from transport routes vital for daily supplies, agricultural goods, and government services.

The administrator further highlighted that marginal communities desperately need local infrastructure development but fail to meet the conditions for government loan programs. This exclusion leaves border populations starved of public investment and development, perpetuating cycles of hardship and blocking economic prospects available to residents of developed urban areas.

Car Catches Fire at School During Exam Day
7h ago Khaosod

A mother bringing her child for a school exam got a terrible shock when bystanders suddenly yelled that a car was on fire. She rushed outside to find her own vehicle engulfed in flames. Residents quickly grabbed fire extinguishers and managed to control the blaze on the black Toyota Vios before it could spread further.

At noon on July 12, 2025, police from Muang Chachoengsao station received the report of a vehicle fire at a school in the district. They coordinated with municipal disaster relief and rescue teams to respond.

When officials arrived, they found residents already dousing the flames with fire extinguishers, successfully containing the fire in the black Toyota Vios with Chachoengsao plates before it consumed the entire vehicle.

Inspectors discovered a burnt electric fan and power bank near the rear console area, which they believe may be the fire's source. They noted the need for further investigation to determine the exact cause.

The car owner explained that he had driven from Bang Pakong district to bring his child for the exam. While waiting at school, he heard people shouting about the fire. At first he didn't realize it was his car, but when he rushed out to check, he found his own vehicle ablaze.

The owner said he is uncertain whether the power bank or electric fan caused the fire, since both were stored close together in the rear section. He suspects heat buildup inside the vehicle may have damaged the appliances and triggered the fire. After the incident, he contacted his insurance company to assess the damage.
