Man Dies After Sedan Crashes Into Parked Truck
A 62-year-old Bangkok driver died when his sedan crashed into a parked cement truck on a Pathumthani highway early July 11, with police investigating the cause of the collision.
A tragic accident claimed the life of a 62-year-old driver when his sedan slammed into the rear of an 18-wheeled cement truck parked along the roadside. The vehicle was badly damaged, and the driver died at the scene. The truck driver, who woke to investigate around his vehicle, was shocked by the discovery.
On July 11, 2569, Sergeant Major Kiatithorn Chaturakwamnigul, investigating officer at Ku Bang Luang Police Station, received a report of a sedan colliding with a cement hauling truck on Parallel Road 3902 Kanchanapisek No. 9 heading toward Bang Bua Tong in Ku Bang Luang Subdistrict, Ladlumkaew District, Pathumthani Province. He immediately proceeded to the scene with rescue personnel from Ku Bang Luang Subdistrict Administration and Po Teck Tung Volunteer Foundation.
At the accident site, officers found a pink Toyota Corolla registered in Bangkok with severe front-end damage. Inside the vehicle, they discovered the driver, 62-year-old Mr. Wirat (surname withheld), deceased with facial lacerations.
The other vehicle involved was an 18-wheeled cement truck registered in Phatthalung, with its trailer also registered in Phatthalung. The rear bumper and right wheel showed damage. The truck driver, 58-year-old Mr. Boonruek (surname withheld), told investigators that he was hauling cement from Saraburi to Songkhla. When he reached the accident site around 4:00 a.m., he parked to rest. Around 5:00 a.m., a friend parked another cement truck in front of his. When Mr. Boonruek walked around his truck before continuing the journey, he discovered the sedan had collided with the rear of his vehicle and found the sedan driver dead.
Police officers from Ku Bang Luang Station conducted an investigation at the scene with a physician from Ladlumkaew Hospital, documenting evidence through photographs. They interviewed the cement truck driver regarding the cause of the collision. Po Teck Tung Foundation volunteers transported the deceased to the Central Institute of Forensic Science under the Ministry of Justice. Police will coordinate with relatives to claim the body for religious funeral rites.
