Today (October 28, 2026), Chukiart Yingsuen Bangchan, Deputy Governor of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), presided over the launch of the "MEA Energy Plus" Phase 2 project under the concept "Reduce Costs, Increase Energy Efficiency for SMEs." Manas Arunvathanaporn, Assistant Governor of MEA, attended as chairman of the project's advisory committee at the Asawin Grand Convention Hotel in Bangkok. MEA partnered with King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) to organize the event, encouraging entrepreneurs to switch to high-efficiency equipment to lower energy costs and boost competitiveness.
Chukiart stated that MEA aims to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan to use energy efficiently. Understanding limitations in investment capital, knowledge, and technology selection, MEA implemented the MEA Energy Plus project to provide both knowledge access and financial support, while linking cooperation between government, private sector, financial institutions, educational institutions, and equipment manufacturers and distributors to drive tangible investment in energy efficiency improvements alongside greenhouse gas reduction.
Phase 2 adds two new supported technologies: cold storage units and heat pumps, expanding from the previously supported inverter air conditioners and variable speed drives (VSD), covering four equipment types total. Approved entrepreneurs receive subsidies up to 30% of equipment price per project criteria.
The event featured project presentations, subsidy application guidelines, energy-saving potential of supported technologies, and networking opportunities with manufacturers and distributors for equipment selection guidance, plus on-site project registration.
MEA invites interested entrepreneurs to check eligibility, conditions, and apply online at www.meaenergyplus.com free of charge, with a calculation tool for preliminary savings and subsidy estimates to aid investment planning. KMUTT advisors as project consultants provide guidance at every step.
