May 6 — Lieutenant Colonel Thanupetch Chamrucks, commander of Sawaengha Police Station, reported that officers conducted an inspection at the home of Wichai Piemsilp, 63, in Moo 3, Ban Pran Subdistrict, Sawaengha District, Ang Thong Province. Piemsilp was a known drug offender currently out on bail awaiting trial. Upon arrival, officers found him using methamphetamine inside the house. Samut Prakan – Rescue workers responded to a fatal accident on Theprat Road (also known as Bangna-Trat Road), the parallel eastbound lane at kilometer 16 in Bang Chlong Subdistrict, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province, on May 6th. Rescuers discovered the body of a 12-year-old Myanmar boy with severe head trauma from an 18-wheel truck. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, lying face down in a pool of blood.

The boy's father, a 38-year-old Myanmar national, suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital. Witnesses reported that the father and son were riding their motorcycle normally when they encountered a hand cart being pushed against traffic, forcing them to swerve onto the road where they collided with the truck trailing behind them. The truck driver, Montri Maejaroen, 49, remained at the scene approximately 100 meters away from the accident location. Blood and brain tissue were found on the truck's left rear wheel.

The truck driver stated he was driving normally when the motorcycle suddenly swerved in front of him. Despite attempting to avoid the collision, he was unable to prevent the accident. Police Lieutenant Sapat Prakarnpitaksa from Bang Phli Police Station documented the scene and sent the boy's body to the Ramathibodi Institute of Forensic Medicine. The truck driver was brought in for further questioning at the police station regarding the tragic incident.

Phuket — The situation involving influential figures in the 'Freedom Beach' area of Phuket province has flared up again after MP Chaloempong Saengdee, a Thai Raksa Chat Party representative from Phuket's District 2, revealed the latest developments pointing toward threats against the safety of government officials and politicians.

This follows complaints from local residents that 'Freedom Beach' has been seized and encroached upon by influential groups who illegally cleared forest in the Naka Range protected area, engaging in intimidation that has affected residents' livelihoods and tourism reputation.

Previously, on March 24, the Phuket Provincial Governor assigned relevant agencies to conduct field inspections accompanied by MP Chaloempong Saengdee, forest officials, local administration, and residents. The inspection found five violators on charges of encroachment and forest clearing, with numerous structures including accommodations, shops, and facilities built within the protected area. Four elephants were also found tethered in the area.

Following the inspection, Chaloempong Saengdee discussed the matter in parliament and called for the government to seriously suppress the influential group known as 'Freedom Beach Mafia.' However, concerning developments emerged when a forest official requested transfer from the area citing health reasons, though questions arose about potential safety concerns, as gunshot-like warning shots had been reported previously.

The situation intensified when the local influential figure using initials 'L. Ling' posted threatening messages on social media suggesting that 'if you shoot an MP, bail is only 200,000 baht,' causing widespread alarm about the safety of those involved.

Additionally, reports indicate this person previously sold protected forest land to foreigners for tens of millions of baht and posted challenges claiming government officials cannot reclaim the area.

Meanwhile, MP Chaloempong stated that despite safety concerns, he remains committed to protecting national resources and will not be intimidated by dark forces, thanking supporters for their encouragement. He has called on the Forestry Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the government to urgently address the problem, warning that without action, a parliamentarian could be seriously harmed in the future.
