Motorcyclist Hits Garbage Truck; Child Dies, Mother Injured

At 10:00 a.m. on September 29, Pathum Thani's Khlong Luang police station received a report of a motorcycle colliding with a garbage truck, resulting in one death and injuries, on Khlong Aen Road 3-4 in Khlong Sam subdistrict, Khlong Luang district. Officers arrived to find a purple Honda Wave motorcycle with damage to the left front side, along with a scattered helmet and flip-flops. Near the scene lay the body of an 8-year-old girl, identified as a Myanmar national. Close by was Than Than So, approximately 32, the girl's mother and the motorcycle's rider, who had sustained injuries. Emergency responders from Khlong Sam Municipality transported her to Thammasat Chulabhorn Hospital.

A six-wheeled Isuzu municipal garbage truck, painted green, showed collision damage on the right front. The driver, Wutthee, 42, waited at the scene as the girl's family members arrived, overcome with grief and shock.

Wutthee stated that the motorcycle emerged from Khlong Sam 9/4 at high speed without braking. He had swerved to avoid it, nearly falling into a drainage canal while returning to the municipal office after completing his waste collection route. The motorcycle had cut in front of a pickup truck beforehand, but that driver managed to brake in time. The motorcycle rider did not brake, only honking and swerving as he nearly tumbled into the canal.

The injured woman's husband, 30, a Myanmar national, said his wife and daughter had left their accommodation at 9:00 a.m. to head to work at a fish farm in Khlong Aen 3-4. A friend called to inform him of the accident. He rushed out and found his daughter dead and his wife injured. The couple had been working at the fish farm and living in Thailand for some time.

Police initially recorded evidence from the scene and sent the victim for autopsy at Thammasat Chulabhorn Hospital, while continuing their investigation into the precise cause of the fatal crash.
