Bangkok MRT Offers Free Fares for Folding Bikes and E-Scooters

The Mass Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has partnered with four Bangkok MRT operators—Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM), which operates the Blue and Purple Lines; Eastern Bangkok Monorail Company (EBM), which operates the Yellow Line; and Northern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (NBM), which operates the Pink Line—to waive fares for passengers carrying folding bicycles or electric scooters on all four lines as part of World Car Free Day 2026.

The initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion, protect the environment, and encourage the public to use public mass transit. On Tuesday, September 22, 2025, throughout operating hours, passengers with folding bicycles or e-scooters can obtain free coupons or transit cards at ticket counters at every station.

For safety inside the MRT system, riders are asked not to ride their bicycles or scooters on trains, to be careful not to bump or collide with other passengers or train cars, not to obstruct others with their vehicles, and not to unfold or disassemble their bicycles or scooters while onboard.
