Myanmar Foreign Minister Strengthens Ties with Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association
Myanmar's Foreign Minister visited Thailand and met with the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association on July 19, pledging expanded cooperation with Thai businesses and reinforcing bilateral ties between the two nations.
The Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association hosted Myanmar's Foreign Minister in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting the long-standing friendship between the two nations at both people and government levels. The Myanmar Foreign Minister emphasized that the private sector has maintained good relations and expressed willingness to provide full and sustained cooperation with Thai businesses in all dimensions.
Pisanu Suvannacha, chairman of the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association, revealed on the afternoon of July 19 that the association's board had the opportunity to host U Tin Myo San, Myanmar's Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his visit to Thailand at Suriyasai House. Myanmar's delegation included Ambassador U Saw Saw Tho, Political Affairs Director Daw Miao Pa Pa Khin, ASEAN Affairs Director U Htan Min Aung, and other officials. The Thai side included association chairman Pisanu Suvannacha, Piyabhakdi Sricharoen of the Department of East Asian Affairs, and Ambassador U Taw Saralamp to Yangon, along with other officials and association board members.
U Tin Myo San stated that Thailand and Myanmar are good friends with a long history of relations between peoples and governments that has endured. He noted that the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association plays an important role in strengthening bilateral relations and hoped that ties between the organizations, peoples, and governments would remain sustainable and long-lasting.
Chairman Pisanu Suvannacha welcomed the Foreign Minister's visit as an important opportunity demonstrating constructive interaction between Myanmar and Thailand. The association expressed strong commitment to ensuring bilateral relations continue to grow, develop warmly, and benefit both nations. The association also welcomed news that Myanmar's President Senior General Min Aung Hlaing would make an official visit to Thailand soon and pledged to participate in welcoming activities and strengthening private-sector linkages, particularly in business, trade, arts, religion, and culture.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister also spoke with Thai business-sector board members, noting good past cooperation in trade and expressing Myanmar's willingness to provide full cooperation with Thai businesses in future collaborative endeavors.
