NACC Charges Former MP Kadethep in Solar Well Bribe Case
The National Anti-Corruption Commission has charged former MP Kadethep Techadecharoenkul and associates with demanding about 1.09 million baht from construction firms in exchange for solar-powered well project contracts. Kadethep allegedly claimed he could secure the work through connections to senior officials, including Big Pom, and collected advance payments that were never returned. The NACC made the announcement on October 16, 2026, after confirming evidence of fraud and corruption.
The NACC announced that its committee voted to indict Kadethep Techadecharoenkul, former member of parliament, and several others for corruption in a solar-powered well project. They allegedly conspired to collect advance payments totaling approximately 1,090,000 baht from three construction companies by falsely promising to allocate the project, which was under budget consideration by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Ministry of Interior. Kadethep claimed influence through alleged ties to high-ranking officials, including Big Pom, and demanded a 25‑30% kickback, with an upfront fee of 1.5% paid in cash. The companies paid varying amounts, but Kadethep never delivered the project. The NACC found criminal liability under the Organic Act on Anti-Corruption, 2018, sections 171, 128, and 169, in conjunction with the Penal Code section 91, and ethical violations under the judicial ethics standards. Similar charges were filed against Prachunwalee Itsasawat, Thuanthong Seneewong Na Ayutthaya, Wattanaphong Suankaew, Sombat Sakulchim, Phet Na-ngam, and Suraphong Phutthiwong under the same anti‑corruption provisions.
