On September 10, Duangchan Unchat, the Chachoengsao Provincial Industry Officer, along with Surapong Yattinirong, Nong Hongsa Subdistrict Chief, Phutthiphong Rupsombun, Panthong District Deputy Chief, Police Major Chairat Chaipatiwalp, Panthong Police Station Commander, and related agencies, conducted an inspection of a warehouse in Moo 6, Nong Hongsa Subdistrict, Panthong District, following public complaints about illegal hazardous waste operations.
Upon arrival, officials discovered three warehouses containing various materials being sorted, including electronic waste, plastic, aluminum, circuit boards, and lithium batteries, totaling nearly 100 tons. Some circuit board scraps and electronic waste were found mixed with cement before being bagged in large quantities, apparently awaiting disposal.
The team also found 15 Myanmar workers on the premises. Initial checks revealed that three possessed work documents, though valid only for Samut Prakan Province. Authorities are investigating the remaining workers' documentation and employment status.
During the inspection, an unidentified woman telephoned Surapong Yattinirong, the subdistrict chief, attempting to negotiate a settlement of the matter. The subdistrict chief declined and confirmed there would be no further negotiations.
Reports indicate that the operation may involve Chinese investors using a Thai national's name to lease the facility and conduct business.
