Pheu Thai MP Says Ministers Unlikely to Face No-Confidence Debate
Pheu Thai MP Sutin Khlaengsaeng says Pheu Thai ministers are unlikely to face a no-confidence censure because there is not enough evidence against them. He notes that the opposition's no-confidence motion targets only Bhumjaithai ministers and suggests it may aim to create division or topple the government. Sutin adds that coalition parties should weigh the evidence and public sentiment when deciding how to vote.
Sutin says Pheu Thai ministers are unlikely to face a no-confidence censure due to insufficient evidence, and outlines the voting approach. On October 11, 2069, Sutin Khlaengsaeng, a party-list MP for Pheu Thai, commented on the opposition's no-confidence motion targeting only Bhumjaithai ministers, with no Pheu Thai ministers included. He speculated whether the move aims to create division within the governing coalition or to topple the government, noting that if the goal were to overthrow the government, the leading party would be the main target, while other coalition parties would be secondary objectives and possibly kept as future allies. Sutin added that, viewed in good faith, the coalition parties may simply lack sufficient flaws or evidence to warrant a no-confidence debate, and opening such a debate could harm the initiators themselves. Drawing from his past experience as an opposition member, he said that if ministers have no clear wrongdoing and the evidence is not substantial, he would avoid risking a censure because the accusers would suffer the consequences. Therefore, he believes the reason other coalition parties are not being censured is the lack of sufficient grounds and evidence. He personally does not view the matter as a political issue. Regarding the voting in the debate, Sutin said coalition parties must listen to both the opposition's information and the ministers' explanations; if the evidence is clear, the ministers cannot defend themselves, and the audience is convinced, then they would not go against public sentiment.
