High Tide Floods Chachoengsao Streets, Residents Rush to Move Goods
Chachoengsao experienced flooding as a high tide in the Bang Pakong River combined with inflow from neighboring districts. Water levels reached 10‑15 cm on several streets, forcing residents to wade through water and businesses to relocate goods to higher ground. Shop owners warned that the unusually daytime surge could worsen, urging close monitoring.
Chachoengsao city is inundated as high tide in the Bang Pakong River mixes with runoff from Bang Kla and Khlong Khueng districts. Reporting on October 11, 2024, journalists said floodwaters have filled streets and neighborhoods in the Chachoengsao municipality since this morning, with water depths of 10‑15 cm on many roads. Motorists must reduce speed while residents wade through water to shop, take children to doctors, and move possessions. Restaurants and cafés along the river are rushing to elevate their inventory after seeing the tide higher than usual. Charuwan Bamrungkit, 35, owner of Forever Cafe, said she plans to stay open but is moving items to higher ground, fearing the water could rise further, especially since the surge occurred unusually during the day.
