MP Urges NACC to Explain Delay in Local Exam Cheat
Chai Chana Dechadecho called on the National Anti-Corruption Commission to clarify why it missed the deadline to charge three suspects in a local civil service exam cheating case, leading to their release and concerns they may flee the country. He said the delay contradicts Prime Minister Anutin Chanvirakul’s repeated statements that the case is major and should set an example, and questioned who bears responsibility for the lapse. Chai Chana urged the NACC to seek help from expert agencies to avoid further delays and protect the integrity of the exam process.
Chai Chana Dechadecho, the deputy leader of the Democrat Party, urged the National Anti-Corruption Commission to explain why it failed to file charges against three key suspects in a local civil service exam cheating case before the legal deadline, which forced their release and raised fears they might flee abroad. Speaking on October 11, 2026, he noted that Prime Minister Anutin Chanvirakul has repeatedly described the case as major and promised it would set an example, yet the delay raises questions about who is responsible for the mishandling and any resulting damage. Chai Chana said the NACC should seek assistance from agencies with the capacity and expertise, such as the Central Investigation Bureau, to ensure swift and effective prosecution, and warned that the release of the suspects undermines the integrity of the civil service examination system and public trust.
