PM Anuthin Visits Malaysia for Shrimp, Fish Export Talks
PM Anuthin travels to Malaysia on July 9-10 to negotiate bilateral trade agreements on Thai shrimp and fish exports with Malaysian counterparts, including opening a new customs checkpoint at the Sadao border.
Prime Minister Anuthon Chanyawongchai announced his official visit to Malaysia on July 9-10 to conduct bilateral discussions with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. The primary agenda will focus on Thai shrimp and fish exports. Agriculture Minister Suriya Chungrungreung will meet with his Malaysian counterpart Dato Seri Mohamed Sabu to finalize trade agreements already outlined by both governments. When asked if he might encounter former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and former PM Yingluck Shinawatra, both reportedly in Malaysia, Anuthon stated it was impossible due to his packed itinerary from morning through evening meetings. He will join Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim in opening a new customs checkpoint connecting the Sadao border in Songkhla province. When pressed on whether he had met Thaksin since the former PM's prison release, Anuthon gave only a brief acknowledgment that he had not met him in person.
