2h ago Khaosod

At 9:30 a.m. on July 6, 2025, following a briefing on a budget bill at Parliament, Prime Minister Anuthin Charnvirakul and the Interior Minister hurried to their vehicle. When reporters asked whether the Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry had completed the signing of an order establishing a disciplinary committee to investigate five local government officials involved in municipal exam fraud, the PM simply smiled without answering.

Reporters then attempted to ask about results from the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) showing his approval ratings had declined. Anuthin briefly lowered his car window and said only that he needed to rush to meet an ambassador at the government house. When pressed again on whether he had signed the disciplinary order, the PM merely smiled, closed the window, and immediately departed Parliament.

LYKN Member Hong Updates Recovery From Appendix Surgery
2h ago Khaosod

Fans were left concerned when Hong Pichetchapong from LYKN developed acute appendicitis and required emergency surgery. On July 5, Hong and bandmate Nat Thanat attended the launch of La Roche-Posay's Effaclar Supra Molecular Oil & Pores Correct product at One Bangkok shopping center.

Hong provided an update, saying his condition has improved but he cannot dance or do heavy exercise yet and must wait approximately one month for his wound to fully heal. He thanked fans for their concern. Both members also promoted their solo singles: Hong's "Let's Go" and Nat's "Tasty."

When asked about his surgery, Hong revealed he had no warning symptoms. He woke up one morning with severe, unusual pain and decided to go to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed appendicitis and performed surgery that same night. He will need about a month before returning to performing, though he's following all medical advice carefully.

Despite being cautious, Hong decided not to cancel work commitments and felt stronger for pushing through, though he had to restrain himself from laughing during filming two days after surgery. He assured fans he knows his limits and asked them not to worry, joking that he'll have to limit appendix jokes for a while.

Both artists urged fans to listen to and share their new singles on social media.

Thailand Seeks Senate Approval For 10.3 Billion Baht Budget Reallocation
3h ago Khaosod

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presented a draft budget reallocation bill worth 10.3 billion baht to the Senate on July 6, 2569, seeking approval to help drive Thailand's economy and maximize budget efficiency. The bill, already approved by the House of Representatives on June 25, transfers unused and uncommitted budget allocations from various government units into a central emergency reserve fund to address urgent economic and social crises facing the country from both domestic and external factors.

Anutin explained that the reallocation follows guidelines approved by the Cabinet on June 2, 2569, and includes two main categories: first, routine expenses that have not been disbursed or incurred, such as conference, training, and overseas official travel costs; and second, investment expenditures including one-time projects and multi-year commitments that could not be procured or contracted by June 2, or which agencies determined could be delayed without harming government operations.

The government considered budget management for the third and fourth quarters of fiscal year 2569 based on state policies including public services, welfare support, job creation, local income generation, and various existing commitments that remain feasible under current conditions. Deputy Prime Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapash urged the Senate to approve the bill to strengthen Thailand's economic momentum and ensure maximum budget effectiveness.

Phetchaburi Eyes Hua Hin Airport for International Flights, Targets Luxury Wedding Market

Phetchaburi is targeting India's wedding market to boost tourism revenue, with major hotels offering full buyouts and plans to develop Hua Hin Airport for international flights to connect wealthy couples and families to the region.

Phetchaburi Eyes Hua Hin Airport for International Flights, Targets Luxury Wedding Market
3h ago Khaosod

The Tourism Authority of Thailand's Phetchaburi office is accelerating the development of quality tourism by targeting high-potential market segments including wedding destinations, golf, wellness, luxury, sports, and family tourism to increase visitor spending and prepare for future international market expansion.

The wedding market represents significant opportunity, particularly among Indian tourists who form the primary visitor base for Cha-am and Hua Hin, while Japanese and Chinese travelers currently comprise a smaller share. Major hotels in the area including SO Sofitel Hua Hin, Baba Beach Club Hua Hin, Cha-am by Sripanwa, Dusit Thani Hua Hin, Sheraton Hua Hin Resort and Spa, and Avani+ Hua Hin Resort are now offering exclusive full-hotel buyout options for weddings, with at least 20 hotels positioned to serve this market.

Phetchaburi's proximity to Bangkok, combined with its attractions, cultural heritage, atmosphere, and wedding event facilities, makes it an appealing choice for high-value tourists, especially couples from India, said Ms. Duangjai Khamsaad, director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Phetchaburi office. Following COVID-19, European tourist numbers remain below pre-pandemic levels, prompting businesses to increasingly target the wedding market, particularly during off-season periods to boost occupancy rates and hotel revenue.

The Tourism Authority is coordinating with hotel operators in Hua Hin and Cha-am to identify target markets for Hua Hin Airport development, prioritizing Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Shanghai as hubs that could connect passengers from multiple countries, including India, to the region if direct international flights are established.

In 2024, Phetchaburi welcomed 10.84 million visitors, generating 37 billion baht in revenue, with 90% domestic tourists. During the first five months of 2025, the province attracted 4.89 million visitors and generated 16.29 billion baht, reflecting sustained growth.

Wedding packages for Indian tourists range from 3.8 million baht for standard offerings to 10 million baht for luxury events. Zaffar Javid Noor, Director of Events Management at SO Sofitel Hua Hin, noted that the Indian wedding market continues growing steadily, with the region's strength lying in offering couples a distinctive destination different from typical wedding venues. Most Indian weddings are full buy-outs of the hotel, with standard packages starting at 3.8-4 million baht for 4 days and 3 nights, covering all 108 rooms and accommodating approximately 200 guests.

Soldiers Arrest 11 Illegal Border Crossers From Cambodia
3h ago Khaosod

Sakaeo — Military forces have apprehended 11 foreign nationals and one Thai citizen who illegally entered Thailand from Cambodia through a natural border crossing. The detainees claim they fled an online scam operation after being promised $200 USD daily wages they never received.

On July 6, troops from the Northeastern Army Command's Khok Sung Special Operations Unit, including the 1205 Ranger Company and multiple border patrol operations, were conducting routine patrols when they discovered suspects attempting to illegally cross at the natural border point near the 41-42 boundary markers in Ban Ang Sila, Nong Mak Moon Subdistrict, Khok Sung District, Sakaeo Province. All 11 detainees were taken into custody without valid travel documents or identification.

The detainees—comprising seven Bangladeshis, one Chinese national, two Vietnamese, and one Thai—confessed they had worked at restaurants and online sales operations in Phnom Penh for three months after being recruited by a Chinese acquaintance known as "Sun Weia." They were promised $200 USD daily but never received payment. Facing increased Cambodian crackdowns on foreign nationals, they decided to flee.

The suspects further disclosed they paid 8,000 baht per person to human smugglers who drove them from Phnom Penh to the border and hired three Cambodian guides to lead them through the natural crossing. The guides escaped before troops arrived.

All 11 detainees were transferred to Khok Sung Police Station for legal proceedings. Authorities are expanding their investigation to pursue the smuggling network and anyone else involved.

Deputy PM Ekniti Launches Facebook Page For Economic Policy
3h ago Khaosod

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas officially launched his Facebook page on July 5 under the name "Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas" to communicate economic policy concepts and implementation as Deputy PM and Finance Minister. In his first post, Ekniti explained his intention to use the platform to discuss and clarify economic policy ideas, implementation results, and developments in macroeconomics, public finance, budgeting, finance, capital markets, and investment to educate the public.

Ekniti noted he took office in the Anuto 2 government in early April 2025 amid a global energy price crisis stemming from Middle East conflicts, which triggered cascading crises—from oil shortages and high prices to rising living costs and a cost-of-living emergency. He warned that failure to address these crises would compound problems.

Ekniti described Thailand's structural economic challenges as chronic, including below-potential growth, declining competitiveness, persistent fiscal deficits where revenue lags spending, and long-neglected infrastructure investment, particularly in clean energy—critical infrastructure for the modern world. He likened Thailand's economy to chronic cancer with recurring complications.

With limited government budgets, Ekniti said he must carefully manage both revenue and expenditure to stabilize the short term while seizing the opportunity to transition and build strong foundations for Thailand's long-term economic growth. He outlined a five-pillar approach: Target, Transition, Transform, Transparency, and Together, aimed at stabilizing today, transitioning crises into opportunities, and transforming for tomorrow based on fiscal discipline.

For stabilizing the economy amid global turbulence, Ekniti continued previous "Quick Big Win" policies that showed concrete results by late last year. Facing unexpected energy crisis impacts, the government prioritized stabilizing the economy against the global energy crisis, as Thailand ranks first in ASEAN for oil imports and top-tier in Asia. The government managed oil price stability through the oil fund, preventing extreme volatility and shortages unlike other nations, keeping Thai oil prices lower than many ASEAN countries in April-May. Using the oil fund as the main price management tool prevented fiscal impact.

Thailand Launches Digital Labor Complaint System
3h ago Khaosod

Starting this August, Thailand will deploy the 'Traffy Fondue' digital complaint system for Thai workers, covering approximately 45 million employees, with a motto of 'Report-Acknowledge-Resolve Quickly.' Deputy Government Spokesperson Pattharadasmi Thongslaywong announced the digital government service upgrade on July 6, explaining that the Ministry of Labour, working with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, is accelerating development of the 'Traffy Fondue' platform to provide complaint channels and support for Thai workers. Full rollout is expected by late July or early August this year.

The government recognizes the pressing challenges Thai workers face, including wage inequality, unsafe working conditions, dismissal concerns, and unemployment during economic downturns. Previous complaint channels were slow, difficult to access, and often failed to resolve issues promptly, creating chronic problems. The new policy redesigns the complaint process to be simpler and more accessible, ensuring all worker issues receive swift, transparent, and efficient responses.

Pattharadasmi explained that Traffy Fondue will be the primary channel for reporting labour-related complaints involving wages, benefits, working conditions, and rights violations. Workers simply photograph the issue, pin their location, and describe the problem via smartphone. An AI system then analyzes the data and immediately transmits it to the responsible authorities, allowing real-time tracking of case status. This eliminates travel time and redundant paperwork, ensuring no issues are overlooked.

The government plans to expand the system to cover Thai workers abroad, guaranteeing safety and access to assistance anytime, anywhere. Officials believe technology integration will strengthen Thai labour rights protection, demonstrating the government's commitment to addressing all concerns and improving quality of life for all workers.
