Prime Minister Anuthim Charnvirakul has ordered an urgent meeting with drug enforcement agencies and the Airports of Thailand Authority (AOT) on the afternoon of July 3rd following two separate drug smuggling incidents involving Thailand-bound travelers. On July 1st, a Thai Airways flight attendant was arrested by Australian Federal Police after heroin was discovered hidden in a fabric bag, while another foreign national was also found attempting to smuggle drugs from Thailand to Australia. The PM expressed significant displeasure over the incidents, citing damage to Thailand's international reputation and his desire to advance Thailand as a regional aviation hub while pursuing OECD membership by 2028.
