Police Bust Fake DNA Network for Thai Citizenship Fraud
Immigration police have broken up a scheme that used fake DNA results to fraudulently obtain Thai citizenship for children of foreigners. Raids across Bangkok and Samut Prakan uncovered evidence linking the network to Chinese nationals and led to the arrest of two suspects previously detained in Nakhon Ratchasima. Authorities warn the operation is vital to protect national security and the integrity of Thailand’s civil registration system.
Immigration police dismantled a network that falsified Thai citizenship rights by submitting false DNA results to benefit children of foreigners, launching a blanket search across Bangkok and Samut Prakan to expand prosecution against a Chinese gray group considered a serious national security threat. On 15 October 2026, Pol Gen Sornram Nualma, Commissioner-General of Police, Pol Lt Gen Nopasith Punsawat, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, and Pol Maj Gen Thanut Thaiwatcharamas, Deputy Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, ordered Pol Maj Gen Srawut Khon-yai, Commander of the Immigration Surveillance Division, Pol Col Surasak Surindrakaew, Pol Col Chaloemchon Laemthong, Deputy Commanders, and Pol Col Chaya Pananakit, Investigation Superintendent, to lead the raid. The operation targeted three locations – two residences and one private company in Bangkok and Samut Prakan – to seize evidence and examine links concerning blood‑relationship verification, DNA results, and communications data. Investigators also found information involving Chinese nationals connected to the sites, and are still assessing their roles and connections. Two suspects had previously been arrested in Nakhon Ratchasima province on charges of jointly providing false information and misusing civil registration documents, a practice dating back to 2021. Police say the network poses a grave danger to state security and undermines confidence in Thailand’s civil registration system.
