Police Raid Bangkok Warehouse, Seize 15,000 Counterfeit Goods
Bangkok police raided a warehouse in Bang Bon district producing counterfeit Unilever and Siriraj Hospital branded products, seizing over 15,000 fake items including shampoo, toothpaste, body wash, and perfume. Nine foreign workers — eight from Myanmar and one from China — were arrested while packaging goods for online sale, while the Chinese warehouse owner fled the country. The suspects face charges under the Trademark Act with penalties up to four years in prison and 400,000 baht in fines.
On November 3, Pol. Col. Thirachai Dedkhad, Deputy Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 9, Pol. Col. Thanames Wichitjariya, Superintendent of Bang Bon Police Station, and Pol. Lt. Col. Supakan Kantalak, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation at Bang Bon Police Station, along with Bang Bon police officers, Intellectual Property Department officials, and representatives from Unilever Thailand, inspected a counterfeit goods warehouse on Bang Bon 5 Road, Soi 10, Bang Bon Nuea Subdistrict, Bang Bon District, Bangkok. The single-story warehouse employed nine foreign workers — eight Myanmar nationals and one Chinese national — who were caught packaging counterfeit products. Authorities seized over 15,000 counterfeit items across multiple categories including shampoo, toothpaste, body wash, skin cream, and perfume, along with labeling stickers and more than 1,000 shipping boxes ready for delivery to customers.
Pol. Col. Thanames revealed that police acted on a complaint from Unilever Thailand representatives, who coordinated with the Intellectual Property Department for the joint inspection. The operation uncovered tens of thousands of counterfeit items, both ready for shipment and returned stock. The warehouse operated by acquiring empty bottles, filling them with counterfeit product, and applying fake brand labels for sale through social media channels. The warehouse owner, a Chinese national, has already left the country. Additionally, counterfeit Siriraj Hospital-branded shampoo was discovered, and police are coordinating with the hospital for further verification.
The suspects face preliminary charges under Section 108 of the Trademark Act, carrying penalties of up to four years imprisonment, a fine of up to 400,000 baht, or both. The nine workers have been sent to Bang Bon District Court for prosecution, while police continue efforts to locate and arrest the actual warehouse owner.
