Police seized 10 million methamphetamine pills after a concerned citizen reported a suspicious truck, discovering a massive haul destined for Pathum Thani. On October 26, 2026 at 3:30 PM, Region 5 Provincial Police alongside Phayao police, military personnel, administrative officials and related agencies held a press conference announcing the major drug bust in Phayao province, with approximately 10,000,000 methamphetamine pills confiscated.
The operation began when police received a tip from a vigilant citizen about a white-and-blue six-wheel truck behaving suspiciously regarding its cargo. They coordinated with Police Lieutenant Colonel Thawon Mueangjai, Superintendent of Phayao Provincial Police Investigation Division, to investigate. Officers then escorted the truck to the Phayao Provincial Police Investigation Division for a thorough search, uncovering 10,000,000 methamphetamine pills weighing a total of 1,230.9 kilograms, which were seized as evidence.
Preliminary investigation revealed the truck had collected the narcotics from an abandoned warehouse in Thoeng District, Chiang Rai, before preparing to transport them to Pathum Thani via Jun District and Dok Khamtai District in Phayao, then entering Mae Tam Subdistrict, Mueang District — the location where the citizen spotted the vehicle and alerted authorities.
Following the seizure, police transferred the evidence to investigators at Mueang Phayao Police Station for legal proceedings, while urgently expanding the investigation to trace the source, identify the intended recipients, and apprehend all parties involved in this drug trafficking operation.
