Police Seize 2.7 Million Methamphetamine Pills in Nakhon Ratchasima
Police intercepted a pickup truck on Mittraphap Road in Nakhon Ratchasima on September 2, seizing 2.7 million methamphetamine pills worth 8.1 million baht and arresting two suspects who confessed to transporting the drugs from Udon Thani.
At 18:30 on September 2, 2025, Pol. Col. Niphon Mingkwan, superintendent of Bua Lai Police Station, together with officers, set up a checkpoint to intercept drugs, firearms, and other contraband on Mittraphap Road at the entrance to Bua Lai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
During their operation, officers spotted a suspicious pickup truck loaded with cargo in the truck bed and ordered a detailed search. Inside, they discovered methamphetamine hidden in plastic bags wrapped with tape—totaling 2.7 million pills worth approximately 8.1 million baht. Two suspects were arrested: Kosin, 44, the driver, and Somthawil, 48, a passenger.
Under interrogation, the suspects confessed that they had been hired to transport the methamphetamine from Udon Thani Province to be distributed to a network in Nakhon Ratchasima. They admitted to having carried out similar drug runs on multiple previous occasions.
Pol. Gen. Nongsakdi Promthara, commander of Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police, travelled to the checkpoint to inspect the seized drugs and question the suspects personally. He stated that the provincial police have intensified efforts to suppress drug trafficking, firearms smuggling, and other illegal activities, leading to this major arrest and seizure.
According to the investigation, the suspects transported 2.7 million methamphetamine pills from Udon Thani for hand-off to accomplices in Nakhon Ratchasima before distribution to a wider network of drug dealers. Police are continuing to expand the investigation to identify and arrest all other network members involved.
