Prachinburi Governor Orders Expanded Water Testing in River
Prachinburi's acting governor ordered expanded water testing across the entire river system and all district supplies amid concerns over industrial chemical contamination threatening public health.
Acting Governor Chanathip Kokmanee chaired a meeting on resolving water quality issues in the Prachinburi River, amid concerns over potential chemical contamination from industrial sources that could affect public health and livelihoods. Authorities agreed to systematically inspect, monitor, and remediate the problem, with the Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment tasked to coordinate with the Pollution Control Department and experts to manage hazardous substances from an oil spill. The meeting also mandated expanding water quality monitoring points to cover the entire river and its tributaries, from upstream to downstream, and directed the Provincial Waterworks Authority to enhance testing of tap and village water supplies across all districts. Prachinburi Province will integrate cooperation among all relevant agencies, closely monitor the water quality situation, urgently address emerging problems, and implement measures to prevent impacts on public health, agriculture, and the environment, ensuring citizens have access to clean water and can safely resume their lives.
