Prince of Songkhla University's Faculty of Natural Resources has officially opened the 32nd Southern Region Agriculture Fair under the theme 'The Future of Thai Agriculture Amid Global Crisis,' with Chuan Leekpai, advisor to the university council, serving as the principal guest. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niwatti Keawpradap, rector of the university, delivered the welcome remarks, and Assoc. Prof. Thawisak Niyombundit, dean of the Faculty of Natural Resources, provided a report on the event's background. The ceremony took place at the Faculty of Natural Resources, Hat Yai campus, on August 10, 2025.
This year's fair, running from August 8–19, operates under the theme 'The Future of Thai Agriculture Amid Global Crisis' and serves as an integrated platform for knowledge, research, technology, and modern innovation to help farmers and entrepreneurs overcome current challenges including climate change and food security.
Assoc. Prof. Thawisak Niyombundit, dean of the Faculty of Natural Resources, explained that the fair bridges academic research with commercial and farming communities by presenting research that addresses global crises. Key exhibition zones include: Smart Farming and BCG showcasing IoT agricultural systems, palm oil value-added products, and biochar; Aquatic Park 2026 featuring aquatic plants, biofloc systems, seahorse farming, and seaweed cultivation; Livestock and Animal Science BCG exhibitions with cattle, goats, and eco-friendly animal feed; agricultural product competitions including golden pillow durian, ruby pomelo, and jackfruit varieties; competitions for jade peafowl and broiler chickens; workshops on chili paste making, beeswax balm production, tissue culture, Google Earth for agricultural data, mushroom cultivation, and pest diagnosis; an academic conference on 'Innovation for Sustainable Agriculture' scheduled for August 13–14 at the Royal Jubilee International Convention Centre; and an exhibition of quality seedlings, safe agricultural products, and farming machinery from across Thailand. The 12-day fair invites visitors to explore products, shop, and stay updated on modern agricultural technologies.
