Singer Builds Dream Home for 70-Year-Old Mother in Rice Field
Country singer Kantong Thungyai built a modest home for her 70-year-old mother in a rice field in Ubon Ratchathani Province, fulfilling a dream born from years of savings and dedication to honor her elderly parent.
Country music artist Kantong Thungyai has proudly built a small dream house for her 70-year-old mother, Samran, in the middle of a rice field—created through years of saved earnings, hard work, love, and a daughter's heartfelt intention to care for her mother. The move has touched many hearts. Kantong announced her milestone achievement of saving to build this modest home so her elderly mother could have a bedroom surrounded by rice fields and live a happier life. The house blessing ceremony at Baan Suan Mae Samran in Non Kho village, Buntharik District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, was held on August 3, a date chosen as auspicious for the family.
The housewarming was organized simply, with monks invited in the morning to perform merit-making for the home and family's good fortune, followed by live music that filled the atmosphere with smiles, laughter, and joy from family members and guests. Kantong thanked her family and loved ones for their help and support in making the event successful, and acknowledged friends and relatives who gave gifts for the new home.
Kantong spoke about her intention, saying she had deliberately saved money to build this small house for her mother at age 70: "Mom is my pride today. Now Mom has a bedroom in the rice field. Mom has struggled so much; from now on, let Mom live happily and have enough." Though the house may appear small to many, for Kantong it represents something far greater—a home built from sweat, savings, love, and a daughter's determination to repay her mother. Ultimately, a child's true success may not be owning the largest house, but rather seeing one's mother in a warm home, living happily when the child finally has the strength to care for her.
