Senate Speaker Presents Homes to Disabled and Needy Families in Buriram

On 11 September 2569, Somporn Saramun, President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives, presided over a ceremony to present homes to people with disabilities and low-income families under a project honouring the reign of the Thai monarch on the occasion of the royal birthday on 28 July 2569, as a gift of merit. The event took place in Phuthaisong District, Buriram Province, with local officials and residents witnessing the home transfers.

Somporn stated that beneficiaries were selected based on criteria measuring housing hardship and necessity, while considering their lifestyle and standing as good community members. All recipients demonstrated good behaviour, had no involvement with drugs, and showed loyalty to the monarchy, ensuring aid reflected the project's true purpose and reached those genuinely in need.

The first home was presented to Prani Theppodha, 65, a day labourer from Sri Sa Raed village, Maphueang Subdistrict, Phuthaisong District. Her household of three includes her 73-year-old husband Prasit, who is paralysed from right-side hemiplegia and is bedridden, requiring continuous daily care, and their 23-year-old daughter Chidapa, who is currently unemployed. The family was selected for housing assistance to provide a stable and safe home suited to caring for a bedridden patient, and to ease the family's burden while improving their quality of life.

Somporn met with Prani and her family to offer encouragement, presented money for family living expenses to help ease their hardship, and also donated funds to the village health volunteer fund in Maphueang Subdistrict to support community health and welfare work.

The second home in Don village, Moo 6, Haysok Subdistrict, Phuthaisong District, was presented to Uray Chaiyadi, 73, whose household of four includes two schoolgirl grandchildren. Uray was selected according to project criteria. Somporn met with Uray and her family to offer encouragement, presented money for family expenses, and gave educational scholarships to both granddaughters to ease the family's financial burden and support their schooling. Funds were also donated to the Haysok Subdistrict health volunteer fund to support community health and welfare work.

The presentation of both homes reflects cooperation among the Saramun Foundation (Lukthoeng), government agencies, local authorities, community leaders, network partners, and residents in helping disabled and low-income people facing housing difficulties by providing stable, safe, and appropriate homes, while easing financial burdens and promoting educational opportunities for youth in those families. This joint effort aims to tangibly improve people's quality of life and expresses gratitude for royal benevolence on the occasion of the royal birthday on 28 July 2569.
