Woman Found Dead After Four Days of Unlatched Door
A 52-year-old woman was found dead in her Nonthaburi home after neighbors noticed the gate unlocked for four days; her husband was hospitalized and a pill was found in the woman's mouth, pending autopsy results.
At noon on September 11, Deputy Worawut Pudchim, head of investigation at Bang Sai Muang Police Station in Nonthaburi, responded to a report of a death and injury at a two-story residential home on Ratchapruk Road, Bang Krang Subdistrict, Muang District, Nonthaburi. Officers arrived with a medical examiner from the Forensic Institute, evidence technicians from Nonthaburi Provincial Police, and volunteers from a charitable foundation.
At the scene, a two-story house measuring approximately 50 square wah, officers found the body of a 52-year-old woman (name withheld) lying on a bed covered with a blanket in the lower hallway near the front entrance. Close by, a 54-year-old man (name withheld), her husband, was found lying face-down breathing heavily. Emergency responders transported him to hospital.
According to questioning, the 57-year-old village headman said he entered the house this morning because the homeowner normally greeted him daily, retrieved mail from the front mailbox, and closed the door—but the gate had been unlocked for four days, which was unusual. Concerned, he asked a neighbor to check with him. Finding the air-conditioner and fan running, he rang the doorbell twice before hearing the man faintly call "Help me." He entered and found the woman appearing to sleep peacefully but clearly deceased, while the man lay face-down by the sofa. The headman attempted to help the man but could not lift him, and the man cried out in pain.
Initial investigation found no signs of struggle or ransacking, and no visible injuries on the deceased. However, a pill of unknown type was found in her mouth. Her body has been sent for autopsy to determine the cause of death. The husband, admitted to hospital, is being treated for chronic conditions including low blood sugar levels. Once his condition improves, he will be questioned to establish the true cause of death before further action is taken.
