Man Arrested After Firing Gun Inside Home in Phatthalung
A 30-year-old man was arrested in Phatthalung after police found a homemade shotgun and ammunition at his home following reports of gunfire and drug use. He admitted to firing rounds inside and outside the house and using methamphetamine.
On September 11, Deputy Superintendent Wirat Chinmuang of Phatthalung Provincial Police, leading officers from the Provincial Police Unit and Sirinakarin Police Station, raided a home in Ang Thong Sub-district, Sirinakarin District, Phatthalung Province, after residents reported safety fears over the homeowner's drug use and gun-firing behavior.
When officers arrived, they found 30-year-old Nonthai carrying a 12-inch sharp blade at his waist near the roadside. He initially resisted and refused to cooperate, but officers eventually restrained him. He refused to allow a house search until police called his relatives to witness the operation. The search uncovered one homemade shotgun and two shotgun cartridges hidden inside the house, which were seized as evidence.
Under interrogation, Nonthai admitted to using methamphetamine, most recently two days prior. He stated he bought the gun from a friend approximately three months ago for 1,000 baht, claiming it was for self-defense and property protection. He also confessed to purchasing four 12-gauge cartridges, firing two rounds inside the house and two more in the surrounding area.
Police transferred Nonthai and the evidence to Sirinakarin Police Station for charges of illegal firearm possession without authorization and illegal drug use (methamphetamine, Category 1). Legal proceedings continue.
