Thailand Issues Heavy Rain Alert for 32 Provinces
Thailand's Meteorological Department issued a heavy rain alert for 32 provinces through September 13, warning of flash flooding risks particularly in the South where very heavy rainfall is expected.
At 5 p.m. on September 11, 2569, the Meteorological Department issued the 10th heavy rainfall warning (No. 200/2569) for Thailand, valid through September 13, 2569. From September 11-13, the South will experience increased and heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. The lower Central region, Bangkok and vicinity, and the East will see heavy rain in places, while the North and upper Northeast will see rainfall decreasing.
A high-pressure system or cold air mass from southern China will move into the Northern and upper Northeastern regions, pushing the monsoon trough southward across the lower Central region, upper South, upper Gulf of Thailand, and East into a powerful low-pressure system over the central South China Sea. The southwestern monsoon over the Andaman Sea, South, and Gulf will intensify.
The public is urged to be cautious of heavy to very heavy rainfall and cumulative rain that could cause flash flooding and flash floods in foothill areas near water channels and low-lying zones. Avoid traveling through roads with recurring flood problems, especially low-lying areas prone to short-term flooding. A strong low-pressure system over the central South China Sea is expected to intensify into a tropical cyclone and move toward northern Vietnam's coast on September 13-14.
