Phase 2 Thai Help Thai Plus Likely Within One or Two Months
Phase 2 of the Thai Help Thai Plus stimulus programme could launch within one to two months, pending government assessment of economic conditions and available budget allocation.
At 4:40 p.m. on September 11, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas gave an interview at Government House regarding Phase 2 of the Thai Help Thai Plus programme, stating it is still under consideration rather than finalized. When asked whether the budget situation had changed from earlier statements of budget unavailability, Ekniti replied that the total borrowing authorization was 200 billion baht, and from the current decree issued today, funds from that allocation remain unspent. When pressed on whether remaining funds are sufficient to extend the programme for another two months, Ekniti reiterated: "We are still considering it. It could be one month or two months. We need to assess economic conditions first."
