Thai Boxers Claim Two World Titles in Kosovo
Thai boxers won two world muaythai titles at the Senior World Championship in Kosovo in September, with Poom Chantakarn Manobarn and Plai Fa Thanachai claiming victories in their respective weight divisions.
Thailand's Muaythai team delivered a standout performance, capturing two world championships from three competitors at the 2026 Senior World Muaythai Championship held in Ditan, Kosovo, from September 1-11. The 2026 championship was held in two stages—first in Malaysia in June and then in Kosovo—to earn world ranking points toward qualification for the World Games and World Combat Games.
The Thai team was led by Police Colonel Nirinthorn Bunnotok as team manager, with assistance from Lieutenant Therawat Yuiyim and Professor Anan Meksawan as head coach. The three competitors were Poom Chantakarn Manobarn (known as Phanom Yok Bunchamek, women's 48 kg), Anutieda Saengkhao (known as Daoprakai Sroaitong, women's 51 kg), and Plai Fa Thanachai (known as Yod Thanachai, men's 54 kg).
Poom Chantakarn Manobarn secured the first title in the women's 48 kg final, knocking out Diana Dussenkali of Kazakhstan in the second round. Notably, Poom is the relative of Lisa Manobal, the world-renowned Thai artist. Plai Fa Thanachai won the second title in the men's 54 kg final when his opponent, Abdu Rakmanov Abischev of Kazakhstan, committed a foul by kicking Plai Fa in the face while he was falling in the second round. The referee awarded Plai Fa the victory and his first world championship.
Anutieda Saengkhao (known as Daoprakai Sroaitong) in the women's 51 kg division was eliminated in the first round.
